Minnesota Wild: News Update

There's a lot of random news about the Wild this morning, so instead of putting it in fourteen different posts, perhaps it's best to emulate I Heart KG and shove all of it into one update.

From The Hockey News: the Wild have put defenseman Sean Hill on injured reserve with an ankle injury. This move serves a dual purpose: not only will Hill have time to recuperate, but there's now a roster spot open for Derek Boogaard. In other words, the Foy-Radevojevic-Boogaard-Fedoruk-etc. competition to stay with the Wild will continue for awhile. That said, Michael Russo in the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Lemaire likes the current Foy-Sheppard-Fedoruk fourth line so much, we won't be seeing much of Boogaard or Radevojevic.

Speaking of Matt Foy, Tom Powers in the St. Paul Pioneer Press takes time out to let Foy's teammates make fun of him for his rather unnecessary between-the-legs drop pass on Sunday, even if it did lead to a James Sheppard goal. Powers also coins the phrase "Kyle Wanvig Sit-And-Watch Trophy," awarded to the player who spends the most time watching from the press box, thus making me mad I didn't think of that.

Out in Toronto, Dom Moore played about eight minutes in his Maple Leafs debut, and the National Post reports that he's fairly happy about the move.

Moore's parents live in Thornhill, making them close enough to visit if not quite close enough to call roommates...."Pulling on that jersey was a special moment for me," Moore said. "I can't lie about that."
This makes me feel a lot better about the Wild dropping him; he's ended up in a much better place, at least for the time being.

And finally, back to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, where John Shipley reports that Jacques Lemaire still is never happy with Marian Gaborik, despite the latter's 5-3--8 in the last three games.
