Nick Blackburn's Contract... and later, Twins All-Stars

Another Monday off day, over at Twinkie Town (seems like that's all there is, lately). Today's discussion topic: if you're the Twins, what do you do about Nick Blackburn's contract, given that he's been pitching like the staff ace AND you already extended Scott Baker, last year? [Twinkie Town]

LATER THAT SAME DAY: I also ran a quick poll at TT: Which current Twin is most likely to become a perennial All-Star - besides Mauer, Morneau, and Nathan? (As of this writing, minor-league third baseman Danny Valencia has more votes than Michael Cuddyer, Delmon Young, and Jose Mijares combined, proof of the basic optimism of the internet, I guess.)

Twinkie Town: Big Monday

It's a big day over at Twinkie Town. I've got the text of my Sunday radio appearance going up this morning, a short piece about interleague play at noon, and then the regularly scheduled game preview thread at 7:00, just prior to game time.

Head on over there - the water's great! [Twinkie Town]

This week

A couple of updates this week to run by you.

  1. I didn't link to it Monday, as it wasn't much, but if you happen to be a TNABACG completist, I wrote a short discussion post on Twinkie Town on Monday, about my first-ever Twins game. [Twinkie Town]
  2. The NBA Draft is tonight, and I'm on duty for the T-Wolves Blog. I'll have both Wolves-specific updates, and I'll be participating in a network-wide chat, so stop on by for all coverage. [T-Wolves Blog]
  3. Sunday afternoon, I'll once again be on the Twins Radio Network post-game show, doing the "Gameday Chatter" segment. It's 60 seconds of me talking, buried in about three hours of post-game show... but if you happen to be listening, I'll be on the airwaves again this weekend.
And of course Saturday I'll have weekend links at RandBall, too.

Timberwolves Summer Calendar

The NBA Finals are over - and so we look ahead, at some important summer dates for the Timberwolves (including a few that we may or may not have made up.) [T-Wolves Blog]

Joe Crede vs. Tony Batista vs. Mike Lamb

Over at Twinkie Town, I go inside the numbers to compare Twins third baseman Joe Crede to two of his predecessors at the hot corner - Tony "GAAAH!" Batista and Mike "OW MY EYES!" Lamb. [Twinkie Town]

(Note: later today, there'll also be a Twinkie Town discussion about statistics. Bring your graphing calculators! 1:00 pm!)

Weekend Links

Weekend links, we have a few. But then again, too few to ment- actually, no. We'll go ahead and mention them. [RandBall]

Friday at Wrigley

I'm filling in over at Twinkie Town today - starting with a quick comparison between landmarks from both Minnesota and Chicago. The game's at 1:20; around then, the game thread should go up, and post-game I'll have a recap as well. [Twinkie Town]

Oakland 4, Twins 3: Game Recap

Checking in just before midnight with a link to my game recap on Twinkie Town. Short summary: Anthony Swarzak can't throw a strike, and the Twins got beat again. [Twinkie Town]

"Why We Can't Hit On The Road," by the Minnesota Twins

The Twins explain* why they can't hit on the road. [Twinkie Town]

*NOTE: Not actually written by the Twins.
