• Jon is a writer based in the Twin Cities. He's written for the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the Minnesota Daily, and is a regular contributor to RandBall, Twinkie Town, Canis Hoopus, and SB Nation Minnesota.

• The site was launched way back in 2004 assuming that no one would ever read it. It began after a stint as a Minnesota Daily columnist, just as a way to keep writing. For two and a half years, it thus muddled through as nothing but an occasionally-updated rant-ery. It was only in 2007 that it actually became something close to its current incarnation.

It now serves mostly as the personal blog of its author, who uses it to write self-indulgent posts about topics that interest him, such as international soccer, or the American national cricket team. He also uses it to post links to things he's written elsewhere, mostly at the other sites mentioned above.

• TNABACG stands for "The National Anthem Before a Cubs Game". This is a reference to a Bloom County comic strip, in which one of the characters says, "Just the usual formality before the chaos begins. Like playing the national anthem before a Cubs game." It is a nonsensical title, and should have been dropped years ago.
